President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held discussions with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, envoys of the American President, as Ukraine continues to press for a settlement to the conflict with Russia.
In a statement posted on social media, Zelenskyy said peace can come only through strength and cooperation built on trust. He stressed that Ukraine is doing everything on its part to achieve this outcome and to ensure that the position of the United States remains strong enough to bring peace closer. He noted that this is the peace that everyone except Russia has been waiting for over the past four and a half years.
The Ukrainian leader said the talks covered the results of a recent meeting between negotiating teams in Florida. He added that the teams maintain virtually continuous communication and that preparations for the next diplomatic steps are under way. Zelenskyy also confirmed that Ukraine keeps its partners fully informed about the situation on the ground, including Russian strikes that do not cease for a single minute and the continuing need for air defence support. He underlined that much depends on the position taken by the United States.
Ukraine, he said, remains ready to work constructively, honestly and toward a real result. Zelenskyy expressed thanks to everyone in America who supports Ukraine and this approach.
The exchange comes as diplomatic contacts between Ukrainian and American officials continue at a high tempo, with both sides seeking to maintain momentum in talks aimed at ending the fighting.
