President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris for Nigeria on Tuesday. His aircraft is expected to land at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later this evening.
The President chose Lagos as his first stop in order to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle. On Independence Day he will attend the premiere of a film honouring Abiola, winner of the June 1993 presidential election. The screening will be held at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu will hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The President left Abuja on 30 August for the working vacation. He spent one week in London before travelling on to Paris.
In the French capital he attended a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron. He also met business leaders, among them Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday he met Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.
Last week President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the construction of a Gateway deep seaport at Ogun Waterside and the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the same area. DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest seven billion dollars in the seaport and the economic zone.
President Tinubu will return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
