London, 14 June 2025 – Peter Obi, a prominent Nigerian politician and former presidential candidate, has commended Air Peace for their professionalism and consistency on the Lagos-London route. Arriving in the UK this morning on an Air Peace flight, Obi shared his positive experience in a statement on X, noting that he has taken nearly a dozen flights with the airline.
“I want to sincerely thank the management and staff of Air Peace for their professionalism, consistency, and competence on this route,” Obi wrote. He used the opportunity to call on Nigerian elites and political leaders to offer robust support to indigenous businesses, particularly in capital-intensive sectors like air and land transportation.
Obi highlighted the challenges faced by local businesses in Nigeria, including rising operational costs and intense competition. “Nigerian businesses need our encouragement and patronage, not harassment or unnecessary intimidation,” he stated. He emphasised that supporting homegrown enterprises, especially those generating significant employment, is vital for job creation, economic growth, and sustainable national development.
Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest airline, has been lauded for its efforts to expand international routes, providing a competitive alternative to foreign carriers. Obi’s remarks underscore the importance of fostering a supportive environment for local businesses to thrive in Nigeria’s challenging economic landscape.
