President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address the nation at 7 a.m. on Thursday 1 October 2026 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
The announcement was made in a State House press release issued on Wednesday 30 September by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
All television and radio stations, together with other electronic media outlets, have been advised to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the live broadcast.
The address forms the centrepiece of official commemorations of Independence Day.
