The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has set up a special team to investigate transactions linked to the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project following the ruling of the International Chamber of Commerce tribunal in the arbitration case.
The review includes a $500,000 payment made to Jennifer Douglas, former wife of Atiku Abubakar, and a $1.74 million payment made to Abubakar Dasuki, son of former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki. The EFCC is also examining other transactions and relationships referenced in the 620 page arbitration award and could invite individuals mentioned in the proceedings for questioning.
Investigators have begun tracing properties that may be connected to the payments under review. Officials said the commission would treat the tribunal award as a starting point for its own evidence gathering before deciding on any further action.
