Houston police arrest three men over alleged prostitution offences in the southwest of the city
Houston police have arrested three men, named as Sunday Okorie, Arron Ingram and Januarius Ezeike, after a proactive operation against prostitution in southwest Houston.
The Houston Police Department said its Vice Division carried out the operation on 28 September. In a statement published on 2 October, the force said the operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals for felony prostitution as buyers. A booking graphic released with the statement is headed “Solicitation of Prostitution (Buyer) Arrests” and displays photographs of the three men in orange custody clothing.
The arrests form part of a series of buyer focused operations by the Houston Vice Division. In similar actions this year, the division has said it is targeting people alleged to have offered payment for sexual conduct, rather than only those accused of selling sex. Under Texas law, a person commits an offence if they knowingly offer or agree to pay a fee to another person for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. A first offence of this kind is generally treated as a state jail felony.
Police gave no further detail of the location within southwest Houston, of how the operation was arranged, or of when the three men are due in court. The department has not said whether any of them remains in custody.
