Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the governor said the decision followed deep reflection and extensive consultations with his family, friends and associates.
“I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries,” he said. “I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party.”
The announcement marks a significant development in the race for the APC ticket ahead of the next governorship election in Rivers State. Governor Fubara, who entered the primaries as a leading contender, emphasised his ongoing loyalty to the party and pledged to throw his weight behind its eventual nominee.
