ABUJA, 24 September 2026. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, has named the senior leadership of his campaign organisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The announcement was issued on Thursday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the campaign and Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku. The statement said the structure would be lean. It comprises a National Campaign Council, a Presidential Campaign Management Committee, six directorates and 30 directors. The 30 directors have not been named individually. There is no official document on the party website and no complete public roster.
Kashim Ibrahim-Imam will chair the National Campaign Council. Nasir El-Rufai will serve as deputy chairman. Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu has been appointed Director General and Campaign Manager.
On the operational side, publisher Dele Momodu will oversee media and communications as Deputy Director General. Dino Melaye has been given responsibility for national outreach, mobilisation and public engagement. Mohammed Hayatudeen will coordinate policy. Professor Kingsley Moghalu has been listed on the policy team covering economic and monetary questions. Professor Mohammed Sagagi will be deputy chairman of the policy team and Aare Aremijoye will be its secretary.
A separate Campaign Advisory Council will be chaired by John Odigie-Oyegun. Ben Obi and Lawal Batagarawa will serve as deputy chairmen. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, will be secretary.
Shaibu, who issued the statement, is the campaign’s Director of Strategic Communication.
The campaign presented the arrangement as a compact working structure rather than a large patronage list. Only the senior posts above have been made public so far. The remaining directors and the detailed breakdown of the six directorates have not been released.
