Comrade Ini Ememobong Resigns from Akwa Ibom Cabinet

Uyo, 7 June 2025 – Comrade Ini Ememobong, a prominent figure in Akwa Ibom State’s administration, has tendered his resignation as Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Sea Port, as well as a member of the State Executive Council. The resignation letter, dated 6th June 2025, was addressed to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

In his letter, Comrade Ememobong expressed deep gratitude for the confidence and opportunity to serve in the governor’s cabinet, particularly in the critical Ministries of Information and Special Duties, and the Ibom Deep Sea Port project. He highlighted the valuable experience and enlightenment gained during his tenure.

The resignation stems from a directive that any appointee unwilling to accompany the governor in switching from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) should resign. Citing personal conviction, Ememobong stated his inability to join the APC, leading to his decision to step down.

The former commissioner extended heartfelt thanks to the governor and the people of Akwa Ibom for the opportunity to serve, marking the end of his notable service in the state administration.
