Top Iranian Commander Eliminated in Israeli Airstrike

Tehran, 17 June 2025 – In a daring operation, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) eliminated Ali Shadmani, Iran’s War-Time Chief of Staff and de-facto top military commander, in a precision airstrike last night. The strike targeted a secret command centre in the heart of Tehran, acting on fresh intelligence, and successfully neutralised Shadmani, who had held the role for just four days following the elimination of his predecessor.

Shadmani, a prominent figure in Iran’s military hierarchy, commanded both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army. He was instrumental in overseeing Iran’s firepower plans and combat operations across the region. Prior to his brief tenure as Chief of Staff, Shadmani served as Deputy Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya emergency command centre and had previously been Head of the Operations Directorate in the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.

The elimination of Shadmani marks yet another significant blow to Iran’s senior military leadership, further destabilising its chain of command. Israeli officials stated that the operation demonstrates their capability to execute swift and precise strikes against any commander posing a threat. “Iranian military leaders are now on the run,” an IDF spokesperson remarked, underscoring the impact of the strike.

The operation comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Iran’s military apparatus facing increasing pressure from targeted Israeli actions. Shadmani’s death is likely to exacerbate the challenges facing Iran’s armed forces as they scramble to reorganise their leadership structure.

Further details on the operation remain limited, with Israeli authorities maintaining operational secrecy. Meanwhile, Iranian officials have yet to issue an official response to the strike.
