Sowore Slams Tinubu’s Administration on Second Anniversary

agos 29 May 2025 – Omoyele Sowore, a prominent Nigerian activist and publisher, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as it marks its second year in office. In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Sowore branded Tinubu’s tenure a “failure” across multiple fronts, highlighting economic woes, infrastructure delays, and security lapses.

Sowore pointed to the sluggish progress on the Lagos-Calabar highway, Tinubu’s flagship 700km infrastructure project, noting that only 30km has been constructed in two years. He also criticised the administration’s economic policies, claiming the naira’s exchange rate has plummeted from N400 to N1,600 under Tinubu’s watch.
The activist further accused the president of hypocrisy for removing the petrol subsidy, which disproportionately affects low-income Nigerians, while allegedly allowing “budget padding” to subsidise corrupt officials and lawmakers. On security, Sowore lambasted Tinubu for failing to curb Boko Haram’s expansion from Borno and Yobe to Kogi State.
