PDP Governors Forum Forms Committee to Address Party Challenges

Bauchi, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum convened a significant meeting at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge, bringing together serving and former governors to deliberate on the party’s current challenges and future direction. The meeting, described as fruitful, resulted in key decisions aimed at strengthening the party’s unity and organisation.

A major outcome of the discussions was the establishment of a seven-man committee tasked with preparing for a rancour-free National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for 27 May, as well as the upcoming national convention. The committee is chaired by Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former Senate President, who expressed his commitment to working alongside other distinguished members.

Joining Dr Saraki on the committee are Governors Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State, and Peter Mba of Enugu State. The panel also includes Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.

Dr Saraki, in a statement following the meeting, conveyed his optimism about the committee’s ability to deliver on its mandate. “We hope to do our best in delivering on the assignment given to us,” he remarked, underscoring the collaborative spirit of the group.
