Notorious Terrorist Ally Killed in Nigerian Airstrike

In a major victory for Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, the Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of Alhaji Shaudo Alku, a key ally of infamous terrorist leader Bello Turji, in a precision airstrike. The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fasan Yama on 18 May 2025, targeted a terrorist gathering near Tunfa Primary School in Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

Alku, who had reportedly travelled from Niger Republic to attend a meeting, was killed alongside several other fighters and unconfirmed commanders. The strike marks a significant blow to Turji’s network, which has been responsible for numerous attacks in Nigeria’s northwest region. The Nigerian Army stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist operations and restore peace to the area.
