Nnamdi Kanu's Court Hearing Adjourned to Wednesday
The ongoing trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been adjourned to Wednesday for further proceedings, according to a statement by his lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor. The case, heard on Tuesday, saw the prosecution presenting its evidence-in-chief, which largely consisted of Kanu’s broadcasts dating back to 2015.
Ejimakor, updating the public via a post on X, noted that the relevance of the prosecution’s evidence would be scrutinised during cross-examination, expected to commence on Wednesday. Kanu, who has been in detention since his arrest in June 2021, faces charges related to alleged incitement and terrorism.
The adjournment follows a series of legal proceedings that have drawn significant attention both in Nigeria and internationally, with Kanu’s supporters calling for his release. The court’s next session is anticipated to shed further light on the prosecution’s case and the defence’s response.
