Eight Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested in Abia State by EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended eight individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in Abia State, Nigeria. The arrests, carried out by operatives of the EFCC’s Uyo Zonal Directorate on 22 May 2025, followed credible intelligence regarding the suspects’ alleged participation in online criminal activities.
During the operation, authorities seized four luxury vehicles, 20 mobile phones, and two laptops from the suspects. The EFCC has stated that investigations are ongoing, and the individuals will face court proceedings upon completion of the inquiry.
This latest crackdown underscores the EFCC’s continued efforts to combat cybercrime across Nigeria, targeting those engaged in fraudulent online schemes.
