Legal Battle Intensifies Over Demolished Ikeja Property

Lagos, Nigeria – A contentious legal dispute over a demolished property in Ikeja has escalated, with former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi alleging further unlawful actions by a trespasser. In a statement posted on X on 28 June 2025, Obi detailed the ongoing conflict involving a property owned by Next Foods Limited, a company led by his younger brother, Ndibe Obi.

According to Obi, the property was demolished following an “unjust possession order” obtained through misleading information presented to the court. Legal counsel for Next Foods Limited has since initiated court proceedings to challenge the demolition. However, Obi revealed that the same trespasser, under the cover of night, has begun erecting a fence to divide the land, an act he described as a “blatant act of trespass” and an “assault on the rule of law.”

The secretive construction, Obi suggested, appears to be a deliberate attempt to complicate the ongoing legal battle. “The secrecy and desperation surrounding this act speak volumes. It reeks of impunity,” he stated, expressing confidence that the judiciary would deliver justice “swiftly, decisively, and in full accordance with the law.”
