Lagos Police Arrest Notorious and Suspected Hired Killer

Lagos State Police Command scored a major victory against crime on June 20, 2025. Operatives nabbed Wasiu Akinwande, a 44-year-old alleged hired killer, in a daring operation. The Tactical Squad swooped into Agbado, Ogun State, to apprehend the suspect.

Akinwande allegedly led a notorious gang of killers that plagued Mushin and surrounding areas. Since 2009, he masterminded armed robberies, murders, kidnappings, and cult-related killings. His reign of terror left communities gripped by fear.

Police stormed his Mushin hideout, seizing a cache of weapons. They recovered AK-47 rifles, pump action rifles, locally made pistols, and ammunition. Akinwande admitted to using these firearms in his gang’s deadly operations.

Four families connected him to the murders of their loved ones. Their testimonies strengthened the case against the suspect. Deputy Commissioner spearheads efforts to capture other gang members still at large.

Commissioner of Police Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safety. “We will keep Lagos secure for everyone,” he declared. He commended the officers’ courage and urged residents to share information to aid investigations.

Akinwande remains in custody, awaiting trial for his crimes. The Lagos State Police Command vows to maintain its crackdown on criminal elements. With this arrest, they send a clear message: no one is above the law.
