Enugu Governor Honours Super Eagles Star Maduka Okoye

Enugu, Nigeria – Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah welcomed Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to the Lion Building, celebrating the achievements of a true son of Enugu. Okoye, a rising star on both national and international stages, shared his ambitious plans to give back to his community through a charitable foundation and a football academy in Enugu.

The academy aims to inspire and nurture young talents, fostering the next generation of football stars while making a positive impact on lives across the state. In recognition of his accomplishments and dedication, Governor Mbah appointed Okoye as an Ambassador of Enugu State. In this role, Okoye will serve as a role model for children, particularly those attending Enugu’s innovative Smart Green Schools, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

To support Okoye’s vision, Governor Mbah pledged to provide land for the football academy. He also extended an invitation to the goalkeeper to participate in the upcoming Enugu International Marathon, an event set to attract elite runners from around the globe.

Governor Mbah emphasised the importance of youth in Enugu’s development, highlighting their talent and potential as central to the state’s future. “With proud sons like Maduka Okoye, Enugu is truly rising,” he stated.

Okoye’s appointment and his plans for the academy mark a significant step towards empowering young people in Enugu, blending sport, education, and community development to create lasting change.
