Brutal Attack on Farmers in Enugu State by  Fulani Herdsmen Sparks Outrage

Enugu, Nigeria – A devastating attack in Ikpakpara village, Agamede, Eha-Amufu community, Enugu State, has left the region reeling, with reports of innocent farmers brutally killed over the weekend. The incident, described as yet another in a series of violent assaults on the community, has prompted widespread condemnation and renewed calls for urgent security intervention.

Peter Obi, a prominent Nigerian political figure, expressed profound sorrow over the killings, stating on social media, “My heart breaks for the Eha-Amufu people, for the grieving families, and for those still searching for their missing loved ones.” He highlighted the recurring nature of such attacks, which have disrupted the peaceful existence of the community and instilled fear among farmers, preventing them from safely tending their lands.

The Eha-Amufu community has faced relentless violence, with this latest tragedy underscoring the urgent need for a permanent solution to the insecurity plaguing the region. Obi emphasised, “These killings must stop. We cannot keep watching communities bleed without justice or protection.” He called for immediate action to ensure the safety of residents and restore peace to the area.

The attacks have not only claimed lives but also threatened the livelihoods of farmers, who are increasingly afraid to return to their fields. This has raised concerns about food security and the broader impact on rural communities in Enugu State. Obi stressed that the affected communities deserve both compassion and tangible security measures to prevent further loss of life.

Addressing the people of Eha-Amufu directly, Obi offered his condolences, saying, “You are not alone.” He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the swift return of peace and security to the community.

As the nation grapples with this latest tragedy, pressure is mounting on authorities to deliver justice for the victims and implement effective strategies to curb the rising tide of insecurity in Enugu State and beyond.
