Atiku Vows to Fight Election Fraud

Abuja, Nigeria – 5 July 2025

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to combat electoral malpractice and poor governance, declaring “enough is enough” in a powerful statement during a meeting with Gombe stakeholders. The delegation, led by former Minister and Senator Idris Abdullahi, met Atiku on Friday to discuss Nigeria’s political future.

Atiku, a prominent opposition figure, stressed that Nigerians should not endure hardship amidst the nation’s vast resources. He criticised the current state of governance, attributing widespread suffering to mismanagement and corruption. “We cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance,” he said.

Speaking at the gathering, Atiku announced that the coalition of opposition leaders, united under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is committed to delivering transformative change. He highlighted the coalition’s interim leadership as a sign of their dedication to integrity and responsible governance. “The quality of the interim leadership shows that we are ready to bring integrity to the process and give Nigerians the responsible leadership they deserve,” he affirmed.

The Gombe stakeholders expressed unwavering support for the ADC’s vision, pledging their loyalty to the coalition’s efforts. They reminded Atiku of his instrumental role in Gombe’s development, particularly his support for the election of Danjuma Goje as governor in 2003, which they credited as a foundation for the state’s progress.

Atiku expressed optimism about the growing support for the ADC, noting that the stakeholders’ commitment further inspired his resolve to drive positive change. The coalition aims to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity, and political instability, by fostering accountable leadership.
