Activist Serah Ibrahim Pens Emotional Birthday Tribute to Peter Obi, Hailing Him as a ‘Superhero’

Lagos, Nigeria – 19 July 2025

In a poignant message shared on social media, prominent Nigerian human rights activist and economic analyst Serah Ibrahim has paid tribute to Peter Obi on his 64th birthday, describing the former presidential candidate as a “superhero” and a beacon of hope in a troubled nation.

Ibrahim, who  identifies herself as a “human rights frontier, finance professional, economic analyst, policy developer, and strategist,” posted the heartfelt letter-style message earlier today. Addressing Obi directly, she praised his resilience and leadership amid Nigeria’s challenges.

“I have seen firsthand that you are the quiet strength in chaos. The still flame that can never go out, even in the storm,” Ibrahim wrote. “You carry the weight of millions, yet walk with humility. In a system built to break us, you keep building hope.”

The activist continued by acknowledging Obi’s actions during times of national crisis: “When our nation bled, you didn’t look away, you knelt to stop the bleeding. In a nation full of noise, you are the calm reminder that we deserve better.”

Drawing a personal parallel, Ibrahim noted: “You are proof that empathy in leadership is not weakness, but power. And just like me  the voice that speaks when others are afraid.”

She concluded the tribute with expressions of gratitude and optimism: “Thank you for being the light in this very dark nation. You are the reason many of us still believe that a new Nigeria is indeed POssible. We love you. Happy Birthday our Superhero, may God guide and protect you. You are not just a man, you are a movement.”

Peter Obi, born on 19 July 1961, served as Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014 and was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, where he secured widespread support, particularly from younger voters disillusioned with the political establishment.

The birthday tribute aligns with broader celebrations organised by Obi’s ardent supporters, known as the Obidient Movement. In Lagos, the group has planned a mega charity rally across key locations to honour the occasion. Meanwhile, in Abia State, a “One Million Man March” is set to take place simultaneously in Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli, aimed at reaffirming backing for Obi’s vision ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ibrahim’s message underscores the enduring admiration for Obi among activists and citizens who view him as a symbol of integrity and progressive change in Nigeria’s often turbulent political landscape. As the nation grapples with economic hardships and social issues, such tributes highlight the ongoing discourse around leadership and hope for reform.
