ECOWAS Celebrates 50 Years with Silver Jubilee in Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria – On 28 May 2025, member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) convened at the Nigeria Institute for International Affairs to mark the 50th anniversary of the organisation’s founding. The Silver Jubilee of the ECOWAS Commission, held on the exact date and location where the Treaty of Lagos was signed in 1975, was a moment to reflect on the bloc’s achievements, confront its challenges, and chart a course for a more robust future.
