JAMB Announces New Minimum Admission Scores for 2025/2026

Lagos, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the minimum scores required for admission into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement, made on Tuesday, sets new benchmarks for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and colleges of nursing sciences across Nigeria.

According to JAMB, candidates seeking admission into universities must achieve a minimum score of 150 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). For polytechnics and colleges of education, the minimum score has been set at 100, while colleges of nursing sciences require a minimum score of 140.

These scores serve as the baseline for institutions to consider candidates for admission, though individual institutions may set higher cut-off marks depending on their specific requirements and the competitiveness of their programmes. JAMB urged candidates to verify the admission criteria of their chosen institutions, as additional requirements such as post-UTME screenings may apply.

The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent admission process, advising candidates to stay updated through official JAMB channels for further guidelines. Institutions are expected to adhere to these minimum scores while finalising their admission lists for the upcoming academic session.
