Ghanaian President to Attend West African Economic Summit in Abuja

Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has confirmed his participation in the inaugural West African Economic Summit, scheduled for 20th-21st June 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria. The announcement came during a warm reception for a Nigerian delegation led by Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who delivered a special invitation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a post on X, Mrs Odumegwu-Ojukwu shared that President Mahama described the summit as a “laudable and timely initiative” and praised President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering economic integration across West Africa. Mahama assured the delegation that he would attend the summit with a high-powered delegation, responding to what he referred to as the “Big brother’s” invitation.

The West African Economic Summit aims to strengthen economic ties and promote collaboration among nations in the subregion. Ghana’s participation signals strong regional support for the initiative, which is expected to address key economic challenges and opportunities.
