Enugu, Nigeria – 17 July 2025 – In a significant move to bolster the state’s administration, Enugu Governor Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has approved the appointment of six new commissioner-nominees, whose names have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation.
The announcement, made through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, highlights the governor’s commitment to enhancing governance in the southeastern Nigerian state. The nominees include a mix of engineers, professors, and medical professionals, reflecting a diverse range of expertise.
The commissioner-nominees are:
- Engr. Benjamin Osita Okoh
- Prof. Benedeth Ekwutosi Okoh
- Eyinna Franklin Ogbonna
- Dr. Samuel Ogbu-Nwobodo
- Prof. George Ugwu
- Ben Collins Ndu Jr.
These appointments come amid ongoing efforts by the Mbah administration to address key challenges in Enugu, including infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.
In addition, Governor Mbah has approved the immediate appointment of Dr Godwin Anigbo, mni, as the new Enugu State Head of Service. Dr Anigbo, a seasoned administrator, is expected to bring his extensive experience to streamline public service operations and improve efficiency across state agencies.
The public service announcement was signed by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the Enugu State Government, on Thursday, 17 July 2025.
Once confirmed by the House of Assembly, the new commissioners are anticipated to play pivotal roles in implementing the governor’s agenda for sustainable development in Enugu State.
